WinCapita

One huge scam hit the news in Finland in March 2008 when WinCapita investment club site was taken offline. During last year it was one of the most active issue in net forums. For example Muro BBS forum got over 1000 pages of posts last year. Thats about 25 000 posts about one topic. WinCapita surely has been in news, blogs and forums so widely that anyone in Finland must know it.

Main operator, Hannu Kalevi Kailajärvi, behind WinCapita was arrested in Sweden some time ago and is already trasferred to Finnish jail. He managed to hide from police about half year. Another main suspect was caught in Helsinki airport when he arrived from Thailand.

Investment club managed to collect about 100 000 000 euros until it went offline. There was about 10 000 people involved. This seems to the biggest scam ever happened in Finland.
